Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Things You’ll Need:
- Advantage, frontline or some comparable flea treatment
- DAWN Dish detergent
- Vacuum
- Yard Spray
Step1
Don't forget to let her go outside before you start spraying!
Let your pup go to the potty. It will be a while before she gets to go back outside.
Step2
Spectracide works well for outdoor flea and tick spray.
After placing your baby inside, spray the yard well with a backyard flea/tick spray. This will drive away any fleas that may get into your yard from other pets, squirrels, or birds that frequent your yard. Spectraside works really well and lasts several months. Make sure you do this on a dry day with a very low chance of rain (otherwise you've wasted your time and money).
Step3
Get the pup in the tub.
Now that you have the fleas fleeing your yard, it's time to get them off of your pup! Pry the pup from behind the sofa (sometimes a treat will help, at least it keeps those teeth busy and away from your fingers!) Carry the baby to the bathroom and place the dog in the tub.
Step4
Don't forget the Dawn Dish Detergent!
Get the Dawn dish detergent (oops, I should've told you this earlier). Fragrance isn't important, just make sure it's not the antibacterial soap (it's too harsh for their skin). Now grab your pup again and run into the bathroom (don't forget the Dawn). If you have more than one pet, you must bathe them all- good luck!
Step5
Use Frontline or Advantage.
Now that your ickle fuzzykins is clean, apply Frontline or Advantage as directed. These medications don't stop the flea from biting your dog, but they do kill the flea before it can reproduce (by poisoning it through the blood).
Step6
Proud to be flea-free!
Now vacuum your home- don't forget the sofas! Wash your pets bedding and blankets (and clothes!) and VOILA! You're flea free!
