How to Make a Daiquiri

If the only daiquiri you’ve ever had is the frozen kind, give this classic daiquiri recipe a try. This sweet and sour cocktail is served in a martini glass and garnished with a wedge of lime.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 oz. rum
  • ½ of the juice from a large lime
  • ¾ to 1 oz agave nectar or sugar syrup
  • Ice
  • Lime wedges
  1. Step 1

    Chill your glass by filling with ice water and set aside.

  2. Step 2

    Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add rum, lime juice and agave nectar or sugar syrup. Shake well, for about 10 seconds.

  3. Step 3

    Empty your chilled glass of its water and ice.

  4. Step 4

    Pour your daiquiri through a strainer into the glass.

  5. Step 5

    Garnish with lime wedge and serve. If you prefer, serve your daiquiri over ice.

  6. Step 6

    To make a pitcher of frozen daiquiris with this recipe, fill blender with ice. Add 16 oz of rum, the juice of 3 large limes and 5 to 6 oz. agave nectar or sugar syrup. Add ½ to 1 cup frozen strawberries or other fruit, if desired. Blend well, pour and serve in chilled glasses with lime wedge.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can make sugar syrup by dissolving 2 parts white granulated sugar into 1 part hot water. Heat on stove, then cool and chill before using.
