A fried bologna sandwich is reminiscent of the south and can still be found in homes all across America today. There is no exact science on frying bologna or how to serve it, but here is a place to start and then you can go from there.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Stove Top
  • Small Frying pan
  • Spatula
  • Toaster
  • Cooking Spray, Butter, or Cooking Oil
  • Bologna
  • Bread
  • Cheese (your favorite kind)
  1. Step 1

Turn a single burner on the stove top to medium. Depending on your stove top, a setting of medium could be anywhere from four to six.

  2. Step 2

Place a pan on the burner and coat with cooking spray, oil or butter. Test the pan for heat by wetting your fingertips and flicking water drops into the pan. If the pan sizzles, it is ready for the bologna.

  3. Step 3

Place three to four small slits around the bologna to keep it flat while cooking. Then place the bologna into the hot pan. Once placed in the pan, do not move the bologna until it is ready to flip.

  4. Step 4

Prepare your bread and condiments. If you're going to toast the bread, time it so that the bread pops up around the time that the bologna is ready.

  5. Step 5

Grab a spatula and lift one edge of the bologna to check for browning. If the bologna has begun to brown, place the spatula under the bologna and flip it to the other side.

  6. Step 6

Allow the bologna to brown for a minute or two, making sure it does not blacken. If you are using cheese, place it on the bologna.

  7. Step 7

When the cheese begins to melt, take the spatula and place the fried bologna on your bread. Top the fried bologna with condiments or other items, as desired.
