How to Change a Computer’s Boot Screen

Each time you turn your computer on and it begins to boot you see the same boring screen. There is a way to change the boot screen image to something much more interesting and fun.

Instructions

1. Open a browser and go to one of the websites listed below. There are many applications that you can download for free that will change the boot screen on your computer. Even though they may each work well in their own way, we will focus on BootSkin for this how-to.
2. Click on the “Download” button to begin downloading the BootSkin application. Once downloaded, walk through the installation of the software. This will only take a few minutes to complete.
3. Open the BootSkin application and select the boot screen that you would like to see when your computer starts up. If you do not see one listed that you like, simply go to “Start," “All Programs," “WinCustomize," and select “Download free boot screens." This will take you to the boot screen download website, which features thousands of free options for boot screens.
4. Once you select your favorite boot screen, restart your computer to see that it has been implemented. Once you know easy it is to set up, you can download the application onto a flash drive and have fun with your friends’ computers.

Tips & Warnings

• The BootSkin application requires a Windows 2000 or XP edition, so if you have Vista or another operating system you will need to find another application at one of the other download websites (see Resources below).
