Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Practice soft smiling. It's called smiling with your eyes. Nice people do this all the time. It will make people think you are warm and inviting to talk to.
Step2
Act sincerely interested in what people have to say. Even stupid people. Practice active listening by occasionally repeating back something someone said or encouraging them to keep talking with a question. Nice people listen.
Step3
Laugh at people's jokes and compliment them on their personality or sense of humor. It's too easy to compliment their clothes or good looks. Search for something unique.
Step4
Give. Or pretend to give. Invite someone you know to volunteer with you. If they say no, don't go and say you did, they'll feel bad. If they say yes then go. Either way, volunteering once is something you can spread out for a year. "When so and so and I volunteered with the terminally ill children...bla bla bla"
Step5
Nice people ask someone how their night was and listen for a few minutes. Pushovers will get the call to go pick up their drunk friend from a party at 2 am and here him complain about his girlfriend.
Realize this difference.
