You have an excellent company and a great company name and now you need a custom logo. Getting a logo made for your company does not have to be a difficult process.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Shop around. Check out the phone book for local graphic artists. Look online for custom logo design companies. Contact each company, both locally and online, that you would consider working with.
Step2
Compare each business’s cost and services. Do they only offer a logo design? Do they offer a logo design with letterhead, business cards and the logo sent to you in each file format? Will they offer you one or more rough drafts to preview? How many corrections will you be able to make?
Step3
Find a logo style that you like so that you can give the design company something to work with. Giving them a feel for what you envision for your own company will help lead them in the right direction.
Step4
Settle on the company that you feel is best for your business needs.
Step5
Offer the company the necessary information on your company. If you know what kind of look you want you can tell the company the font, look and color you desire. If you don’t know what you want you can give the company more leeway in determining style, size and color.
Step6
Settle on a final logo after an appropriate logo has been created. Congratulations! Your company now has a logo!

Tips & Warnings

  • You can often buy business cards and letterhead from the same company that you get your logo design from.
  • Be sure that your logo is appealing and catches consumers’ attention immediately. You can do this by asking friends and family what they think.
  • Settle on what you like, it’s your business; don’t let the graphic artists determine the style or color of your logo for you.
  • Use colors that relate to your business. For example, if you have a landscaping business you don’t want to use brown, you would want to use greens, yellows, and reds.
  • If you cannot buy business cards/letterhead from a specific company, be sure to get the logo in a file format that you can convert into business.
  • Compare the cost of a custom designed logo with one color verses multiple colors.
