Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
Press the Start Button
Press the start button and type in "MSCONFIG" in the search bar and press enter. This will load the system configuration program on Windows Vista.
Step2
Select the Startup TAB
Select the "Startup" TAB from the System Configuration tool. This will show you a list of programs that load when the computer starts.
Step3
Un-check all items
Uncheck any program that you do not want to load at startup. HINT: You can un-check all items in this list and your PC will still start. Some things may not work correctly, but the PC will startup.
Step4
Selective Startup
Select the "GENARAL" TAB on the System Configuration Tool and select the "SELECTIVE Startup" option. This will tell the PC to only load the programs that are selected in the list (if any) when the computer boots.
Step5
Restart to use changes
Press OK on the System Configuration Tool. You will be presented with an option box to Restart Now or Restart Later. The changes you just made will not take effect until you restart, but this option let's you save and close anything you may have been working on prior to making the changes.
Step6
Once you have rebooted, you may or may not get a prompt to inform you that the system configuration has changed ( I have seen both ). Select OK to acknowledge the changes.
