Having a baby can be trying under the best of circumstances but having a baby with dry, itchy skin due to eczema can be especially stressful. Treating baby's eczema is crucial if baby is going to be comfortable and content. Eczema sometimes runs in families, and an allergic reaction to something such as cow's milk, soy, wheat, and eggs is sometimes to blame. There is no cure for eczema at the present time, only treatment.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Take your baby to her pediatrician to confirm that she does indeed have eczema.
Step2
Bathe baby daily in moisturizing bath oil. Do not wash your baby with soap, since it can be extremely drying.
Step3
Moisturize your baby's skin using mild lotions and creams, either over the counter or prescribed by baby's doctor. Avoid products containing perfumes or artificial colors.
Step4
Use a topical corticosteroid cream to reduce inflammation if baby has severe eczema, only if it is prescribed or recommended by baby's pediatrician.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may want to try alternative treatments such as herbs or primrose oil if nothing else seems to work.
