Decorating your house for Christmas is such a joyous time. When the season is over, you may feel a little sad that you have to remove all of the pretty adornments. But you don't have to strip your house of all the festive decor. By using some of your Christmas decorations after the holiday, you can keep the spirit alive and celebrate the joy of the entire winter season.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Winter berries from the garden or dried berries from a craft store

Step1
Begin at the front door. Remove lights and ribbons from the wreath, and store them in a box. Add winter berries around the wreath for a touch of color and texture.
Step2
Leave electric or battery-operated lights in your windows. They create a warm, homey feeling no matter the season.
Step3
As you dismantle your Christmas tree, pick 2 or 3 ornaments that are your favorites. They could be angels, stars, snowmen or items handmade by your children. Display these on the fireplace mantel or in your china cabinet.
Step4
Keep snowmen standing on shelves and tabletops. These figures represent the entire winter season, not just Christmas.
Step5
Remove red or green candles from holiday-inspired holders and place them in more standard holders.
Step6
Remove green or red foil from poinsettias and place flowers in a decorative, non-seasonal planter.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be creative. Think of ways to reuse Christmas decorations around the house so you can enjoy them for a longer period of time.
