How to Disk Defragment Your Computer

How to defrag your computer after deletion of files and removal of programs.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer
  • Mouse
  • Keyboard

Step1
The Start Button First steps first, go to the start menu in the windows desktop, in the lower left corner of the desktop.
Step2
Programs Menu This will bring up the programs menu.
Step3
Accessories Option In the programs menu scroll up to where it says accessories.
Step4
System Tools Option Once you are on the accessories portion of the screen a new menu will pop up to the right of this.

In this new menu find where it says system tools:

Disk Defragment Once found this will then bring up a new menu as well, and in this menu is the option for Disk defragmenter. Click on this item, and it will bring up the disk defragmenter dialog box, once it is up you can first analyze your hard disk, by clicking on the analyze option.
Step6
Defragmenter Once that has been checked it will tell you if you need to defrag or not, if it says no, you can do it anyway if you wish as disk defragmenter should help your computer run a little bit faster. Click on Defragment and you are on your way.

Tips & Warnings

  • Simply follow the above and you will be able to defrag your computer.
  • ALWAYS make BACKUPS before changing anything
