How to Enjoy Things From Your Wedding Every Day

Everyone has photos and usually video from their wedding, which they haul out once a year. But what about the other things that you spent a fortune on? Your wedding may have been a once-in-a-lifetime event, but you can incorporate many items into your everyday life.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Candles
  • Small decorations
  • Fishing line or hooks
  • Table linens
  • Vases

Step1
Light up your life. Most couples have candles everywhere during their wedding and reception. Instead of tossing them afterward, put them on your dinner table, in your bedroom—-wherever you want to add a little romance and style.
Step2
Adorn your Christmas tree. Most couples have a wedding theme, so you probably have lots of small decorations in that theme left over. Use fishing line or hooks to turn snowflakes, tiny wedding bells or even small containers of bubbles into Christmas tree ornaments.
Step3
Make memory quilts or pillows. If you bought special linens for tables at the reception, you can use them on your dining room table at home. You can also use them—-along with fabric from your wedding dress—-to make a memory quilt or throw pillow for your bed.
Step4
Flowers play a big part in many weddings and receptions and you probably purchased lots of vases to hold all of those flowers. You can use vases to hold fresh and artificial flowers, of course, but they also make great vessels for fruit, pine cones and other seasonal decorations.
Step5
Steal the cuisine. Many brides and grooms are too excited to remember what they ate at their own wedding reception, but now might be a good time to find out. If you kept a catering menu, go through it and see if you can incorporate any of the items into your dinner rotation. As you’re digging into chicken cordon bleu with your spouse on a Thursday night, you can reminisce about your special day.

Tips & Warnings

  • A unity candle has special meaning during a wedding ceremony. Why not display it on your mantle and light it on your anniversary as a reminder of what your union means to you?
