Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
When selecting a driver, you must first determine the appropriate price you wish to spend. Drivers can range from $100 to $400. Decide how much you want to spend and then begin to search in that price range.
Step2
Drivers come with a variety of shaft types. Decide whether you need a shaft that is stiff or flexible depending on your golf swing.
Step3
Decide on the loft that the club face should have. The degree of angle of the driver’s face will determine the height the ball reaches when struck. A lower degree club face will give less height but more distance. A higher degree club face will give more height and less distance.
Step4
Most importantly find a driver that is comfortable to use. Test the driver before it is purchased. Many pro shops will have test drivers of each brand and type. You can borrow those for your round of golf to find the one you like the most.

on 6/4/2008 It is not necessarily the case that lower loft equals more distance. It depends on the player's swing speed. Golfers with slower swing speeds will get more distance with higher lofts.
