Whenever we have to say something to someone we love that may hurt their feelings, it is very difficult. But let's face it, when we truly love someone we are not always going to tell them things they "want" to hear, but also things they "need" to hear. Telling your wife that it's time to lose weight is something she may need to hear from you so that she can stay healthy.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Step1
If you have been married to your wife for a long time or even a short period of time and you need to tell her to lose weight, you must figure out what is the best method to use. Does she like love letters? Is she a sucker for romantic greeting cards? Does she love movies? Find out what she loves and then use that method to tell her how much you love her.
Step2
After you have taken her to the movies, or written a wonderful love letter and gotten her that special greeting card with flowers, you need to ask her when is a good time for you all to talk about something really important.
Step3
Once you determine a time to talk with her, start out the conversation by saying, "Honey (or Sweetie or whatever pet name you have for her), you know I love you, but I'm really concerned about our health. I want us to grow old together and live to see our grandchildren and I think we need to start living a healthier lifestyle." If you already have grandchildren then say that you want to both be able to play with your grandchildren or something like that.
Step4
You then look her in the eyes and say "I want to spend more time with you and I think the perfect thing for us to do is start taking long walks together. How about you and I start walking around the neighborhood." If you don't live in a neighborhood that's good for walking or if it's too cold to walk outside, say "I think we should start a membership at the gym, or buy a treadmill and walk together."
Step5
Then you need to tell your wife that you have a surprise for her by saying, "Honey, I wanted to surprise you, but I guess I'll tell you now. I think you do too much cooking on your own. I went out and purchased this new healthy cookbook so I can learn to cook for you or we can cook together instead of you always cooking for me. I want us to stop spending tons of money on junk food and going out to eat. I think we should try out some of these new recipes and see how we like it."
Step6
Hug you wife and then say "I love you too much to let us continue eating food that will eventually make us unhealthy and unable to enjoy life to the fullest. I hope you're not upset about me wanting us to live a healthier lifestyle by eating better and exercising to lose weight."

Tips & Warnings

  • A spoon full of sugar makes the medicine go down. Be sweet and kind when you approach your wife about losing weight.
  • Make the subject of losing weight a health issue rather than your need for her to be more physically appealing to you.
  • Make it something that both you and she need to do as a joint effort together instead of making it seem like it's her problem.
  • If cooking and exercising is totally out of character for you, be prepared for your wife to be upset about how phony you are acting.
  • If all else fails, you can always exchange her for a skinny wife, but don't be upset if the skinny wife has some other real serious problems that you will have to confront her about.

on 4/2/2008 just tell your wife the truth about her overweight. And of course no matter what u still love her but then again u definitely be more proud to have her look gud all the time.
