How to break the news to that special person that you returned their gift

Gift returns after Christmas are popular, but what do you say when the person who gave you that automatic hamburger flipper asks you how you like it?

1. When that fatal question comes to you, your first insticnt is to either (a) panic (b) lie and tell them you love it. Instead, start out by saying: "I never expected you to get me that, I'd never even seen one of those before! (in a grateful shocked tone)
2. Continue on saying: "it's a very neat gift, but I was actually looking for something a little bit different, it's not your fault, I just didn't tell you."
3. Now you've prepared them for the next statment: "So I returned it so I could buy the thing I really wanted, but didn't tell you.
4. Congradulations! You've just told them you returned their gift, without hurting their feelings! By admitting you didn't tell them you didn't want the all-in-one pooper scooper, you make them feel like it wasn't their fault, and they shouldn't be upset!
