People often complain more about their lack of sleep than they do about their lack of money. Few people are lucky enough to be able to get the perfect night’s sleep. By following a few suggestions you can be one of the lucky few who wake up completely refreshed each morning.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Warm bath
  • Relaxing music
  • Good book

Get Ready for Bed

Step1
Take time to wind down before you try to call it a night. Too many people walk away from the violent television shows expecting to fall into peaceful slumber. Your brain needs time slow down if you want to get the perfect night’s sleep.
Step2
Relax your muscles and your mind with a long, soothing bath. Light a few candles and turn down the overhead lights to add to the relaxing moment. Top it off with some soothing music.
Step3
Turn off all electronics an hour before you are going to try going to sleep. The peace and quiet will help your mind and body calm down.
Step4
Read a good book for a while before bed. It’s one more way to wind down from the day and gear up for the perfect night’s sleep.

Calling it a Night

Step1
Wear comfortable clothes (or no clothes) so that your body can breathe more easily.
Step2
Make your bed with sheets that are comfortable to the touch. You spend more time in bed than you do in any other spot in your house. It will do you some good to splurge a little on your bed linens.
Step3
Buy a new pillow every few years. It should straighten itself out if you fold it in half. Otherwise, it’s time to go on a shopping spree.
Step4
Avoid the caffeine for several hours before bed. Putting stimulants into your body is a sure fire way to avoid the perfect night’s sleep.

Know Your Own Body

Step1
Take a week to determine how much sleep you really need. Go to sleep as early as you can and then don’t set your alarm. Note when you naturally wake up. The average for the week is probably a good indication of how much sleep you naturally need.
Step2
Go to sleep when you are tired instead of waiting until bed time. There may be nights when you are sound asleep before the kids. You have to trust your body to tell you when it needs more time for the perfect night’s sleep.
Step3
Take one day a month where you go to sleep as soon as you get home from work. It will go along way towards refreshing your body.

Tips & Warnings

  • Lay down for twenty or thirty minutes. If you aren’t asleep then get up and do a relaxing chore (or what ever is on your mind that is keeping you up). After a little time has passed, try going to sleep again.
