All across the nation, it is children who are leading the way in the campaign against smoking. Here are some guidelines for kids and teens to use to stop the smoking around them. These suggestions follow the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

  1. Step 1

    Keep yourself informed of the risks of smoking.

  2. Step 2

    Make your school smoke-free by writing a petition and getting signatures to present to school officials.

  3. Step 3

    Make anti-smoking posters and ask for permission from your school to post them in hallways.

  4. Step 4

    Write letters to your favorite restaurants asking them to prohibit smoking altogether. Nonsmoking sections don't help because smoke can spread through the room.

    Check out the businesses in your community and encourage your peers to shop at places that don't sell cigarettes.
