While Adobe Photoshop may seem intimidating to the novice user, it is easy to learn some of the simple functions on an individual basis. If you are struggling with a small amount of work space on your monitor, or need more space to work with a large image, you can choose to “show” or “hide” various tool palettes to give yourself more room.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
If you need more space and you wish to hide a certain palette, go to the Window pull-down menu, and choose the palette name. If the palette is currently open, it will have a check mark next to it.
Step2
If you need to make a hidden palette active in your workspace, go to the Window pull-down menu, and choose the palette name.
Step3
You can also choose to “minimize” a palette, so that it is still active, but not taking up space. To do that click the Minimize button in the upper corner of the particular palette.
Step4
You can also choose to show or hide all open palettes, the options bar, and the toolbox, by pressing the Tab key, or to show or hide all palettes, press the Shift key and the Tab key at the same time.
