Gridlines can help make your Excel spreadsheet easier to read. While the default color of Excel gridlines is black, you can change the gridline color of any worksheet by following these simple steps.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer with Microsoft Windows and Excel

Step1
Open a new or existing Excel worksheet.
Step2
If you do not see gridlines on the worksheet, click “Tools” on the Excel toolbar, and then click “Options."
Step3
Click the “View” tab, and under “Window Options," select the “Gridlines” check box. This will allow the gridlines to appear on the worksheet.
Step4
Still on the “View” tab, under “Window Options," select your desired color in the “Gridlines Color” menu.
Step5
Click “OK”. This will only affect your current worksheet. To change all worksheets in a workbook, hold down the “Ctrl” key, click on each tab and then follow the steps above.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you would like your gridlines to show on your printed worksheets, go to “Page Setup” from the “File” menu. Click on the “Sheets” tab. Under “Print,” click “Gridlines” and then click “OK."
