Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Remove any item from your kitchen that is not consistently used in it. In addition, check expiration dates on all food products and discard all expired products. It is a good idea to do this at least twice a year.
Step2
Install a wall or ceiling rack for storing your pots and pans. These items can easily take up needed storage space, which you can use for other things instead. Mount the rack within easy reach of your stove. Use deep drawers or custom-made compartments (within cabinets) to keep the lids contained.
Step3
Store food or other items in conveniently placed bins, containers or hanging baskets. You can create more room by taking these items out of the cupboards, and it also will add to the décor of the kitchen. You can select from countless styles and sizes.
Step4
Reorganize your cabinets for fast access to the items placed in them. Avoid stacking items. Use pullout or tiered shelving in place of regular shelves.
Step5
Place all items that you use for food preparation within easy reach of the refrigerator and sink. Anything used in the preparation process should be kept here. Make sure you have enough counter space to work with. Place any item used when you are cooking close to your stove. Keep cleaning supplies, tableware and foodstuff storage containers under or near your sink.
Step6
Use several trash containers if you recycle your items and place them in easily accessed spaces. A trash compactor can reduce your trash.

on 12/27/2007 Being organized is the key. I can remember apartment living where the kitchen only holds one no matter how you stack it. Way to declutter our lives.
