Your child would probably love to make a snowman like the famous Frosty who could came alive, invented marvelous wintry games and talked! You can come close to realizing by giving your child a Snowman-in-a-Box. All the ingredients to create the perfect snowman will be in the container. She just needs to wait for the snow to fall.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Top hat
  • Plastic Carrot
  • Coal
  • Knitting needles and yarn
  • Zip-lock plastic bag
  • Index card
  • Box

Step1
Find the perfect snowman’s hat. Costume stores sell inexpensive plastic hats in various sizes. Resale shops often have real hats that are equally inexpensive.
Step2
Go to a craft store to buy a plastic carrot for the snowman’s nose. You'll find it in the section with the artificial flowers and wreath making materials.
Step3
Knit or find a colorful scarf. If you knit your own, use leftover yarn. Cast on ten stitches and knit the scarf until it is about 18-inches long. Then cast off and fringe.
Step4
Place 10 pieces of charcoal into a zip-lock plastic bag. 2 pieces will become the snowman’s eyes. 5 pieces will become the snowman’s mouth. The remaining pieces are for buttons.
Step5
Pack all of the items you have assembled into a box.
Step6
Decorate the box with pictures of snowmen.
Step7
Use an index card as a gift tag. Copy these directions for building a snowman onto the card:

1. Make a snowball.
2. Roll it softly around and around on the ground. It will gradually pick up more snow and get so big that it is difficult to move. The first ball will become the base of the snowman.
3. Repeat this two more times. Make each ball smaller than the last one.
4. Pile the balls on top of each other so that the smallest one is on top. This is the head.
5. Make the face: two eyes, a carrot nose and a mouth.
6. Put on the buttons.
7. Tie the scarf around the snowman’s head and put on the snowman’s hat.
8. Take a picture of your snowman.
9. Write a story about your snowman and give him a name.
