How to Sand Cast Art

You've done a molding of your art piece and removed it from the mold. Now you're ready to sand it smooth. Gather your sandpaper, a tile nipper or a wood rasp, some water and a nice clean area to work in and you can fine tune your art piece.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Waterproof sandpaper, 400 and 600 grit
  • Water
  • Tile nipper or wood rasp

How to Sand Cast Art

Step1
Dip your medium grain sandpaper in water. Sand the lumpy areas of your artwork until smooth. Keep the sandpaper moist.
Step2
Go over the rest of your artwork with the finer sandpaper to remove any unwanted lines.
Step3
Use the wood rasp or the tile nippers to smooth the edges of your artwork.
