Things You'll Need:
- Variety of neckties
- Handkerchiefs
- Array of different shirts
- Jazzy shoes
- Cool attitude
-
Step 1
Get a tie that tickles. Bowties are a fun option not many men wear, as are ties that make a fun, funky statement. Keep an eye open at flea markets, craft fairs and museum gift shops for some unique ties that could make even a mortician's suit look fun.
-
Step 2
Experiment with shirts. I had one boss who would never come to work in less than a $3,000 suit. But he’d also jazz it up with silk striped shirts, a subtle polka dot chemise or an unexpected monochromatic themed tie, such as one that was dark grey with light grey or another that was a jazzy teal.
-
Step 3
Go for a handkerchief. That’s what that little, non-functional front pocket is for. You can pull it off without looking prissy if you pick a really cool handkerchief with skulls, prints or spiderwebs.
-
Step 4
Go beyond the handkerchief. On a holiday, stick a carnation in your jacket’s buttonhole. Go for a tie clip. Pick up some jazzy lapel pins, just don’t wear so many that you look like you’re in the military.
-
Step 5
Step into some cool shoes. Combat boots, wing-tips and blue suede can jazz up anything. No one says you have to wear boring shoes just because you have to wear a boring suit.
