Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Things You’ll Need:
- Sharp brain
- Quick reflexes
- Innovation
- Caffeine (optional)
Step1
Use a headset when you’re on the phone. This frees up your hands to do other things. File papers, organize a closet, wash dishes or play with your dog while the caller blathers onward.
Step2
Remember you have five senses. If you really want to go all out, try to use as many of them as possible at any given time. For instance, eat dinner as you listen to the TV news and read and respond to your e-mails.
Step3
Innovate. My treadmill sits next to a bookcase with my computer on top so I can read, type and run. The laundry gets folded as I sit down on my exercise bike to watch a movie. Pick tasks that work well together.
Step4
Use dead time. This is the time where you are stopped dead waiting for the next thing to happen. Rather than sit like a lump, use the time in the car at red lights to floss your teeth. Update your cell phone while in line at the bank. Do anything you want while on hold on the phone, after all, your headset keeps your hands free.
