How to Change Opera Browser Skins on Windows

Opera is a darned awesome browser; admit it. It has widgets, it's 'indie', and it just looks cool. But it can look cooler! Use this simple function to make your Opera browser windows look 'spiffariffic'! (aka, Really cool)

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet connection
  • Opera Web Browser
  1. Step 1

    Open an Opera window up. It doesn't matter what webpage you're on, or if you're at Speed Dial. Just open one up.

  2. Step 2

    Hit 'Shift' and 'F12' simultaneously to open the 'Appearances' box. make sure you're on the 'Skin' tab.

    You will see that you only have one or two preinstalled skins. Try this/these out by selecting them. Your browser skin will change.

    There are oodles of other Opera skins free for the taking. On the 'Appearance' window, select 'FInd More Skins'.

    A huge selection of skins will load, sorted by 'Popular Skins', 'New Skins', 'Editor's Picks' and 'Top Rated'. Choose whichever one you want, and select 'Download'.

    A new 'Downloading skin' window will appear. Wait until your skin is fully downloaded.

  7. Step 7
    'Yes' or 'No'
    'Yes' or 'No'

    Yet another window will appear, asking whether you want to keep this skin. Select 'Yes' or 'No'. If 'No', then Opera will revert to the last skin you had.

  8. Step 8
    Hit 'OK'
    Hit 'OK'

    On the 'Appearance' window, select 'OK' and now you're done. Enjoy your fun new Opera skin.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can change the color scheme of your skin by going to the 'Appearance' window and using the drop-down box to select a scheme. Then, make sure you hit 'OK' or else your color will not apply.
