One of the most beautiful things to display at any wedding, indoor or outdoor, is the wedding arch. By constructing and decorating it yourself, and by using silk flowers instead of real ones, you’ll save a lot of money and have some fun in the process. Here's how.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wooden or metal arch
  • Several yards of tulle
  • Crafting Styrofoam
  • Silk flowers with stems
  • Floral garland
  • Hot-glue gun
  1. Step 1

You can either rent or buy an arch at any local craft store, where assembly may be required, or you may choose to rent one from a party supply store, many of which deliver the arch pre-assembled. The remaining items should be readily available at a craft store as well.

  2. Step 2

After assembling the arch, begin decorating by draping the tulle across the top of the arch and evenly down the sides, loosely wrapping the tulle around the arch to create a flowing effect.

  3. Step 3

This step can be done at any point during the project. Choose your silk flowers and place them, stem-down, into the Styrofoam until you get a pattern and fullness that fits your needs.

  4. Step 4

After you have the flowers arranged in somewhat of a bouquet fashion, begin gluing the stems into the Styrofoam. Shave off any excess Styrofoam that may overlap.

  5. Step 5

Attach this floral bouquet to the top front of the arch by running wires through the middle of the foam and wrapping the loose wire ends to the top of the arch.

  6. Step 6

Finish the wedding arch by wrapping the floral garland through the top of the arch and intertwining it with the tulle running down the sides of the arch.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you choose to buy your own arch, you may be able to donate it to the church or venue where you have your ceremony.
  • Use green floral wire to hang your bouquet to the top of the arch; the colors will blend in much better than white or silver wire.
  • To add even more of an effect to your wedding arch, you can add white pedestals with silk potted flowers that match your floral garland.
