How to Preserve the Top Tier of Wedding Cake
When it comes to having a traditional wedding ceremony, many of the traditions come after the wedding has ended. One of the most popular of these traditions is the preservation of the top tier of the wedding cake. One of the best parts of celebrating your one-year anniversary is getting to taste that delicious wedding cake and live those wonderful memories all over again! Here's how to make it happen. Things You'll Need
- Plastic container about the size of a 1-gallon ice-cream bucket, with lid
- 1 to 2 bags of mini-marshmallows
- Plastic wrap

Ask the caterer, or whoever will be serving the cake, to set aside the top tier of your wedding cake at the reception so that it doesn't get served.

After the reception, cover the cake completely in plastic wrap.

Set the cake aside for the time being, retrieve the plastic container and line the bottom with a couple handsful of mini marshmallows.

Gently place the wrapped cake on top of the marshmallows, and then pour the rest of the marshmallows along the sides and on top of the cake, making sure it is completely covered. Place the lid securely on the container and place in your freezer.

On your one-year anniversary, remove the container from your freezer and place in the refrigerator for 2 to 4 hours of thawing. Then you're ready to start reliving those delicious wedding memories!

Tips & Warnings
You may want to use two or three layers of plastic wrap, for extra protection against freezer burn.
The size of container and amount of marshmallows may vary slightly, depending on the size of your tier. These instructions work best for an eight-inch round tier.
Large amounts of frosting such as flowers don't freeze or preserve well. Consider removing them before freezing.
