My daughter got an iPod for her birthday but was unable to load music because the pc is windows 2000, I found an excellent program to load songs to your iPod without iTunes, I will show you where to find it and how to install and use it.

Instructions

      Make sure your iPod is charged up and ready to use. Plug the cable that connects the iPod to the USB port on the computer. This is how your computor will load songs into the iPod.

      Go to this link and download YamiPod
      http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/downloads/

      No installation is required: download YamiPod, extract it and launch the application (iPod will be automatically detected).

      Just make sure you:

      * have run iTunes at least once (which setups iPod correctly)
      * have at least one song on the iPod
      * set your iPod to work as a Hard Disk as shown here. It's also suggested to uncheck the Open iTunes when this iPod is attached option.
      * set iTunes to manage songs manually as shown here.
      * have QuickTime Player installed under Windows. Otherwise you won't be able to play songs within YamiPod.

      Open it into the folder where your mp3's are stored and transfer your music to your iPod. Simple as pie!
