Tell if Your Significant Other is Having an Affair
Tell if Your Significant Other is Having an Affair

It is rather unfortunate, but these days the divorce rates in the U.S. are higher than they have ever been. Perhaps having an affair is a temptation many people in a committed relationship have always felt, but have not had the Internet to indulge it with. Or perhaps it is that many people end up in relationships that make them unhappy, but are wary to end them due to fear of being alone. No matter what the reason is, there are some key things you can do to tell if your significant other is having an affair.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check for irregularity in their daily schedule. Is your significant other constantly breaking their normal schedule, returning home late with poor excuses? Do you frequently hear them on the phone with somebody of the opposite sex and a lame excuse that follows?

  2. Step 2

Randomly stop by their workplace for lunch. Most often affairs occur with a co-worker. Quite often you can surprise your significant other by showing up to take them to lunch. Gauge their surprise levels on that and watch for body language and eye contact between co-workers of the opposite sex.

  3. Step 3

Find out when their night out is and surprise them by being there with your friends. Another common place for people to cheat on their significant others is when out with their friends and when they are feeling confident. Surprise them at this social meeting place, you should be able to tell immediately if there is something going on or not.

  4. Step 4

Confront them. Once you have gathered enough evidence to convince yourself they are cheating or having an affair, confront them and find out for sure. Most people in a relationship will deny this at first, but after much confrontation many will admit it. If they do not admit it, and you are sure that they are, repeat the first three steps until resolution is found.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use your own intuition. Sometimes intuition can be downplayed by others, but it is your gut instinct which can really tell you what is going on.
  • Only confront your significant other if you are dead sure that they are having an affair. To do so otherwise could cause some long lasting and unnecessary friction in your relationship.
