Have you ever done your shopping and then not been able to find your car? ( Maybe you forgot where you parked ) I will attempt to take you through a process ( with some helpful suggestions ) that will help you to always be able to find your car.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A car ( or a reasonable facsimile )
  • The power of observation.
  • This simple plan
Step1
FIND A PARKING PLACE. This could be a challenge in itself sometimes.
Step2
NOW THAT YOU'VE FOUND A PARKING PLACE . . . get your bearings. ( Find a land mark.) LOOK WHERE YOU ARE IN RELATION TO THE STORE that you are going into.
Step3
FOR EXAMPLE: Last night we went to WalMart. When I parked my car I took notice that I was parked directly in front of the "t" in the word WALMART. I was quite a distance from the store but I knew that if I came out directly from the "t" that I would basically be able to walk right to my car. There are many other points ( or land marks ) that you could pick to help you get back to your car. Pick out that easy to spot point and then from there use it to get back to your car.
Step4
EXTRA GOOD IDEA. A small hand recorder would be useful to aid your memory as to where you parked the car.

Tips & Warnings

  • Tie a ribbon to your antenna ( If you have one ) This would make your car easier to spot from a distance.
  • Count the car spaces from your car to the store.
  • Record useful information on a writing pad. ( or a small recorder )
  • Notice if there is a lamp post ( or other tall object ) near where you have parked.
  • CHEVROLET has released a talking car that will yell out to you if you can't find it in a crowded car park.
  • Researchers have found that one in five drivers say they lose their car at least once a fortnight in crowded car parks.
  • Each driver spends an average of five hours and 13 minutes a year searching for misplaced vehicles.
  • A quarter of drivers say they have thought of reporting their car stolen after spending more than an hour looking, only to realise that they had parked it in a different spot.
  • PAY ATTENTION to where you parked, or you might not find your car for awhile.

on 7/24/2008 This is an excellent article. I feel foolish because half the time I do not pay attention and come out of the store only to go into a bewildered state. :)

on 2/19/2008 Very good article! Tying something eyecatching to your antenna such as a bright color does help I have found in the past. I am usually the one that drives around looking for the "good" parking spot for me and my little one and after I have found the up close spot (by the time I get back out of the store) I usually forget that I did get "the good spot" and I end up walking clear towards the end of the parkinglot until .....well lets say, anyone waiting in their car for their family to come back out usually gets entertainment.

on 1/18/2008 I lost my care once and had to enlist assistance from the security company at the mall. I was sure I had parked it in front of Sears! And I swore that someone had taken it, it had to be stolen! I didn’t know my license plate number and after an exhaustive search, and well after several hours, and just before closing time, after the parking lot was almost empty....an officer found my car on the other side of the mall, exactly where I had parked it.

Good Grief, LOL...

on 1/17/2008 This is GREAT! I do what you do (Step #3) or if there is a number for the row, I write that on the palm of my hand! I have a soccer ball antenna thing, but since my car is so small, I usually can't see it.

on 1/13/2008 LOL. I lose my car frequently. Since it is little, there is often an SUV that pulled in after me blocking my view.
