We eat to survive every day, but do you always think about where that food came from? All animals are intelligent creatures, and plants are quite complex too, which is why they should be respected. Plants and animals are sacrificed in order for us to survive, but eating with compassion is a way we can give back.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

How to Eat with Compassion

Step1
Stop overeating. Consume only the necessary amount of food you need to lead a healthy lifestyle. Eating more than you need is wasteful.
Step2
Show respect for your food at every meal. At breakfast, lunch and dinner say a word of thanks and enjoy your meal respectfully.
Step3
Change your eating habits. Eliminate all meat from your diet (including fish) and consume more beans and plants, which are thought to have lower levels of consciousness.
Step4
Shop more considerately. Purchase organic fruits and vegetables. Also make sure meat and eggs are organic and come from vegetarian fed and free-range animals.
Step5
Read information on slaughterhouses and how animals are raised for food. This may help decrease your meat intake and encourage you to purchase foods produced by more humane ways.

Tips & Warnings

  • Books and movies about how animals are raised and slaughtered are disturbing, so prepare yourself.
