How to Get More Gigs Booked for Your Band

  1. Step 1

Create your marketing materials. The first step is in creating and marketing your bands image. You will want a press-kit; some head shots a demo and business cards you can send to venue and clubs for booking; a nice band website (not MySpace) is essential as well.

  2. Step 2

Create a list of and contact all venues. Doing some simple research online should provide with all of the clubs you could ever want to get booked at.

  3. Step 3

Drop off press-kits in person or mail. Either mail the press-kits to the clubs or drop them off in person. Be social and friendly, not pushy.

  4. Step 4

Watch the gigs roll in. Over time you will continue to receive phone calls from booking agents and venues offering you shows. It’s up to you if you say yes or no.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are not getting as many gigs booked as you would like, try changing the songs on your press-kit and or changing up your web site and business cards. The key is to keep on trying; the gigs will eventually pile up.
  • Don’t be over persistent. If a club or venue says no, wait a few weeks and then try again. The last thing you want is a bad reputation.

on 3/23/2008 Like the idea with the press kit. I kind of feel like a band should be more active than waiting for gigs to come in. What about tagging onto other bands' shows? What about a call to follow up?
