Step 1
Measure at home ahead of time what size tree you want. Use the length of a family member plus arm length raised overhead for a visual measurement if you don't have a tape measure. Have this same person stand by potential trees at the farm with arm raised to get a close approximation for your tree height.
-
Step 2
What tress can you expect to find? Trees can range from tiny to up to 9 feet tall and usual types are both Monterey Pines and Leylandia. Prices range from $7 to $12 per foot, depending on the height and quality of the tree.
-
Step 3
Look for a tree that fits your size requirements and look for green, young branches without bare spots or brown needles. It's especially important to look for open brown spots and avoid picking those trees since it may be several weeks before you actually get your tree. You don't want one that will dry out quickly after getting it home. Make sure the trunk is nice and straight, too.
-
Step 4
Decide when you want your tree at home to decorate. You can take your tree home on the day of your purchase or pick it up later or have it delivered. They cut it for you at your convenience. They clean the tree and deliver at all hours of the day into the night so it's very convenient. The tree farms open in November so most people choose to have it delivered closer to Christmas time.

Step 5
On your delivery date, all you have to do is have the space in your home ready for the tree. They will put it on a tree stand for you and bring it into your house and place it where you want it. All you have to do is decorate and then sit back and enjoy the tree.
