Step 1
USPS Flat Rate Priority BoxThe best size of package to use is a USPS Flat rate priority shipping box. The one that looks like a slightly oversized shoe box, not the one that looks like a shirt box. Such a great deal! If packed carefully, you can get 4 to 5 dozen cookies safely packed into the box. Make sure you leave enough room for cushioning material around the contents.
-
Step 2
You will need bubble wrap or tissue or lots of plastic bags, so that you can fill up the spaces between the cookies and another box. Don't try to send the cookies overseas without the inner packing. Putting a box inside the priority box is a good idea because the extra cushioning protect the cookies. If you can't find a box to fit, just cut one down and make it yourself.

Step 3
You can either wrap each cookie individually in plastic wrap, or wrap two cookies back to back and then put them into a big plastic bag that seals. This helps to keep the cookies fresh and then put them into the smaller box.
-
Step 4
Place the cushioning all around your cookies. Close and shake the box to see whether you have enough cushioning. Add more newspaper, Styrofoam, bubble wrap, or peanuts. If you hear items shifting, then add more packing because it is the shifting around that destroys the cookies. Once satisfied, seal the box.

Step 6
Put the smaller box inside the flat rate priority box. Put a layer of bubble wrap into the bottom and sides if you have it. Fill any gaps around the boxes with crumbled newspaper, tissue, or plastic bags. You need at least 1/2 inch space all the way around.
-
Step 7
Put your note or greeting into a baggy and place into the shipping box. Close it and give it a shake. If nothing moves inside, you can go ahead and seal it up and put on the shipping label. If you hear or feel anything moving inside the package, add more packing material.

Step 8
Tape the opening of your box and reinforce all seams with 2” wide tape. Don't cover up the USPS logo or seals and don't use cord, string or twine because they get caught in mail processing equipment.
