How to Remove Oven Cleaner Residue From an Enamel Oven

A quick and frustrating way to ruin an evening meal is to try to heat your oven and smell the stench of food or cleaner residue roasting in the oven. And if the smell isn't enough to annoy the household, the noise of the smoke detector will be! Follow some simple steps to keep your enamel oven clean and extend the life of your appliance.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Metal bowl
  • Liquid or paste oven cleaner
  • Sponges
  • Baking Soda
  • Water

Step1
Place the metal bowl, filled with water, in the oven and heat it at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes.
Step2
Allow the oven to cool, and wipe away loosen debris, residue and condensation from the oven.
Step3
Follow the directions on the liquid or paste enamel-safe oven cleaner.
Step4
Mix a small amount of baking soda in the bowl with fresh water.
Step5
Using a clean sponge, wipe the oven with the baking soda mixture to prevent future build up of debris and residue.
