Year 21 is a milestone. A great birthday for everyone. If you have someone you really care about, why not throw them the best twenty-first birthday party ever? Here are some great tips to plan, throw the party, and keep the whole thing secret.

From Quick Guide: Plan a Surprise Party
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet Access
  • Three to four types of liquor, beer, wine
  • Mixers
  • Four to five different party foods (such as chips and dip)
  • Any type of birthday cake and candles
  1. Step 1

The first step to a secret surprise party is keeping it secret. Invite guests, but make sure to tell them that it is a surprise. College students utilize Facebook. There are many ways to make secret groups/events that you can make that the guest of honor can not see. Anyone else who does not have a Facebook account, make sure to send an email to them. Web invites are easy and fast and it doesn't leave a paper trail for the birthday boy or girl to find.

  2. Step 2

The night of the party, stock three to four types of liquor and mixers out on a table. You don't have to go crazy. In college a lot of the guests tend to bring their own alcohol to a party anyway. Make sure to take keys or ask if they have a designated driver. As the host it is your responsibility that everyone gets home safe.

  3. Step 3

Put out a few snacks for the guests. Chips, dips, and cookies are easy and great tasting. Try not to put out any food or drinks with dark tints to them such as red wine in case of spills.

  4. Step 4

When the guest of honor gets to the house, turn off all the lights and have the cake already lit. This way, when they walk in the door, everyone can yell, "Surprise" and start singing "Happy Birthday!"

  5. Step 5

Cut the cake and enjoy the party. You worked hard, so have some fun.

Tips & Warnings
  • Watch for guests that have had too much alcohol. Call them a cab or let them stay at your house. Never ever let someone who has been drinking drive home.
