Step 1
Be realistic. You can't cook 5 meals for supper and you can't make everyone happy.
-
Step 2
Don't expect too much of yourself. You can only do so much and no more. Pushing yourself will only make the situation tenser and create more problems.
-
Step 3
Easy meals are important for your mental health and for the convenience. Get some cookbooks for making quick, easy meals and be thankful you have that option. Imagine what this would have been like 50 years ago!
-
Step 4
If you're feeling energetic one day, cook two meals at the same time. This will give the family a choice and also give you a day off.
-
Step 5
Plan a menu of easy meals for the whole week. This will alleviate some stress and you'll know what's ahead for the day. You'll also have an answer ready for the question, what's for dinner, which you will hear from each and every person in your home at least twice.
-
Step 6
Give yourself a break and order out. Many people say it is too expensive and will not consider this option, but with the cost of groceries sky rocketing eating out is becoming very comparable.
-
Step 7
Some kids will flinch at the mere thought of leftovers. Tell them to get used to it; leftovers it is! Believe it when you hear someone say, they will get hungry enough that anything will look good.
