Things You'll Need:

• Nail file
• Nail buffer/shiner

1. Buy a nail buffer/shiner. Most have a buffer on one and a shiner on the other. You can get one as cheaply as 99 cents.

2. File nails to a smooth finish to get rid of uneven and jagged edges, and to give them the desired oval or square shape. A squared shape is easier to do yourself.

3. Rub the surface of your nails using the buffer to smooth out the ridges.

4. Rub the surface of your nails using the shiner to give them a shiny gloss.
