When the holidays come around, moms and dads are just as busy at school as the kids! Parents are called on to volunteer for all of the hustle and bustle of the season, including organizing and running the school Christmas party. Here is an easy way to put together a fun, easy Christmas party for elementary-aged children.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cupcakes
  • Edible cake decoration
  • Grapes
  • Carrot Sticks
  • Lemonade
  • Napkins, cup
  • One white athletic sock per child
  • 1½ cups rice per child
  • Cotton stuffing
  • Thread
  • Markers
  • Handouts of Christmas Carols
  1. Step 1

With the kids seated around the room, pass out one cupcake per child and a small portion of a variety of decorations for the children to top their own cupcake. These can include mini-marshmallows, M&M’s, sprinkles, jelly beans or other candies.

  2. Step 2

While the kids are decorating their cupcakes, pass out a drink and a portion of the other snacks.

  3. Step 3

When the children are finished with their cupcakes, pass out 1 sock, stuffing and 3 pieces of thread to each one. Pour the cup of rice into each sock and instruct the children to add the stuffing.

  4. Step 4

Instruct the children to tie the first portion of thread around the middle, and the second portion of thread ¼ of the way up, dividing the sock into a 3-sectioned snowman.

  5. Step 5

Have them tie the last string near the top of the sock and fold it over, creating a hat for the snowman.

  6. Step 6

Use markers to draw the face, buttons and decorate the snowman.

  7. Step 7

Pass out the Christmas carols, and have the children take turns leading each song until the end of the party!

Tips & Warnings
  • Snowman decorations can be as simple (markers) as you like, or you can use more elaborate decorations, such as glitter glue, real buttons and fabric swatches for scarves.
