We all know we're suppose to eat a healthy diet and exercise but despite our best efforts weight loss may seem impossible--especially when weight gain is due to causes other than food intake, including medications, pregnancy, convalescence, illness, and menopause. While we still have to deal with our weight practically, it is in our best interest to feel good about ourselves. This can be difficult when a slender or average sized person collects pounds quickly and seemingly morphs into a new body within weeks or months.

on 1/3/2008 Great article. I've had to use a lot of these tips over the past 9 months while recovering from pregnancy. Wearing layers and proper fitting clothing is much easier and nicer than wearing your old, too small clothes and always having to cross your arms or hold a pillow in front of your stomach!

on 1/2/2008 This is good, as I have gained 10 of the 40 lbs I lost over the past few years. I was afraid people would look down on me but now I think this article will help me hide it until I get my act back together again. Thank you for writing this!
