Yoga isn't just about being able to put your foot behind your head or conquering the scorpion pose. Actually, what most Westerners imagine when they think about yoga is only a small aspect of what is essentially a whole lifestyle. Yoga is a set of ancient spiritual practices that has influenced spiritual practices all over the world. Read on to learn how to live a yoga lifestyle.

Step1
The goal of yoga varies for various yoga disciplines, but it's essentially forming a oneness with all creation and the divine creative source. In other words, the goal of yoga is to achieve enlightenment.
Step2
It's important to understand that yoga is not a religion but a philosophy that guides one's life. A religion defines God in terms of a specific faith.
Step3
Yoga emphasizes a peaceful attitude. This means one's actions and thoughts are of non-violence. Love, kindness, joy, honesty and peace pervade the yoga practitioner's lifestyle.
Step4
Yoga philosophy teaches that truth is bliss. However, one person's truth may be different from another person's. You determine truth, or bliss, when you are totally happy in mind, body and spirit.
Step5
Living a life of non-greed is another important aspect to the yoga philosophy. This may be one of the hardest concepts to employ since we live in a material world. But non-greed is simply not squandering away or accumulating more than we need. It's a knowing that these "things" are only tools to get through life and will cease to exist when this life ends.
Step6
A yoga lifestyle means that you are content with your life. And it's not based on when this or that happens. It's being content with wherever you are in life now.
