Using scissors takes a steady hand
Grab your scissors or clippers and take off as much as you can, get down to less than a quarter of an inch. Be careful with scissors as you don't want to cut any skin, clippers work great but hair will fly all over so clean up is a little more demanding. I put a small trash can under my face to catch the falling hair, this make cleanup easier.
Step2
Now you have it trimmed as short as you can, run hot water over a towel and make it as hot as you can stand it with getting burned. Place the hot towel over your face to soften the beard and open your skin up for a closer shave.
Step3
Lather up with your favorite shaving cream, using a generous amount spread it all over the areas to be shaved. Let it sit and soften your beard for 5 to 10 minutes.
Step4
Commence shaving, using short strokes with a brand new razor, I prefer the disposable kind with 3 to 4 blades. You will have to stop often to clean the hair out of the blades, I kept the trash can nearby to keep from plugging the drain with hair.
Step5
Now you have finished the job, wash your face with warm water. There's a pretty good chance you may have nicked yourself, place a little dab of tissue paper over the cut to stop the bleeding. Remove the paper after a few minutes and you're good to go. Shave again the next day to catch any stragglers you might have missed.
