Many of the recipes and canned filling mixes make either a deep-dish pie, or two regular pies. What happens if you don't like deep dish, but only need one pie? Here is the proper way to freeze pumpkin pie.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • your pie filling mix
  • extra frozen pie crust, if you purchased a two-pack
  • freezer container or freezer bag

Step1
Prepare your pumpkin pie filling recipe as you always would.
Step2
Fill one pie crust and put in pre-heated oven to bake.
Step3
Pour leftover pie filling mixture into freezer container or freezer bag and seal. Put into freezer.
Step4
When you're ready to make the other pumpkin pie, thaw the filling to near room temperature. Proceed as you normally would to finish making your pumpkin pie.

Tips & Warnings

  • It's best to use the filling within a month of freezing
  • Some people freeze an extra baked pumpkin pie with acceptable results, but you may find that when it thaws, the crust will get soggy
