How to Develop a Personal Relationship With God

How to Develop a Personal Relationship With God thumbnail
Spend time in prayer.

Developing any relationship with a friend takes times, and your relationship with God is no different. Merely showing up at church each week may not achieve a strong relationship between you and God. Part of building a relationship with God is discipline and the other part is your surrendering to his will for your everyday life. Trust that God has your best interests at heart, and wanting to spend time with Him will become natural.

Spend time in prayer, or talking to God. Begin your prayer time by thanking him for all that he has done for you. Ask for the things that are on your mind or that are worrying you. Ask God to forgive you for any wrong that you have done, and ask him to protect you from things that may tempt you. Consider writing in a daily journal, to record your prayer requests and how God answers your prayers.
