This creative, fluffy and warm holiday decoration is sure to be a hit, whether it's sitting atop your mantle, used as a centerpiece or given as a gift to that perfect hostess. This combination of fun feathers and sparkling lights sets the holiday mood in a fun way that the whole family will enjoy.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Feathers--a stringed bouquet or approximately 2 bags of loose feathers, your choice of color, but white is recommended
  • A short string of lights--colored, white or a solid color all work based upon your personal taste
  • A clear glass vase
  1. Step 1

Select a clear glass vase of average size and shape, depending on your personal style and taste. The options are very broad in terms of what will work. You can also experiment with using a lightly tinted vase, possibly in a green or red hue for the holiday mood.

  2. Step 2

Collect your feathers and bundle them into the vase. If using a feather string/boa like collection of feathers (easily purchased at a fabric store), then bunch these up messily and with volume so that they spill out of the vase like freshly fallen snow and hanging icicles--so festive!

  3. Step 3

Time to add the lights. Interweave your short strand of holiday lights between and around the feathers in the vase. This may take some tweaking and twisting to achieve a balanced and beautiful outcome.

  4. Step 4

Allow some lights to spill out of the vase, like hanging icicles, and make sure that there is enough slack to plug the lights in (unless they are battery powered).

  5. Step 5

Find the perfect location in your home or office for your new creation that will display it well and is centrally located by an outlet.

  6. Step 6

Plug in your wintery bouquet and let the magic sparkle.

Tips & Warnings
  • A great combo of colors is white feathers and multi-colored lights. This really gives the appearance of holiday lights peaking out of the snow in the winter.
  • Unplug when not home or not in use to avoid fire.
  • Always use caution when using holiday lights.
