Things You'll Need:
- Hunting dog
- Dog whistle
- Hunting equipment
-
Step 1
When hunting with a dog, always be watching for where the dog is at all times. The last thing you want to do is shoot at a bird while the dog is in range.
-
Step 2
Keep the dog close to all hunters to make sure the dog only kicks up birds within shooting distance. Accomplish this through training and by using the dog whistle to keep the dog close.
-
Step 3
Command the dog to fetch any wounded or dead birds after everyone is done shooting. Make sure that all hunters know that when the command is used for the dog to retrieve that no more shooting is allowed until the dog is back by the owner's side.
-
Step 4
Make sure to congratulate your dog on doing a good job and always give the dog a treat at the end of the hunt. This will enforce good habits and keep the dog safe during the hunt.

on 12/22/2007 Dick Cheney must have missed your first warning! Why don't you consider nature photography rather than nature obliteration?
