Going goose hunting? I hope you are taking your decoys along! This article will show you how to set up those decoys to ensure a great hunt!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hunting License
  • Goose decoys
  • Layout blind
  • Goose calls
  • Flag (usually black in nature - resembling a goose's wings)
  1. Step 1

When arriving at your chosen hunting place, always carry all your gear to your hunting spot before setting anything up. This helps you see what gear you have and allows you to imagine where you would like everything to go.

  2. Step 2

Place your blinds in their position first. Always place them so that your body is positioned to be looking into the wind. When geese land, they usually land into the wind, so this blind set-up can usually get the geese to fly right in front of you and your blind.

  3. Step 3

Set up the decoys next by arranging them in a U-shape around the blinds. The blinds should be at the bottom of the U with decoys spread on either side. This forces the geese to want to land in the middle of the spread, right where your blinds are.

  4. Step 4

Get in the blinds, cover up, and start calling!

Tips & Warnings
