Bathing provides more than just cleanliness. Baths help improve circulation and restore energy. When bath water mixes with certain bath products, a bath becomes something that can boost your immune system, relieve stress, foster relaxation and make you feel good inside and out. Use some of the products mentioned below the next time you need a natural energy boost and stress reliever.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Citrus scented bath products
  • Body brush
  • Bath products with oatmeal or chamomile
  • Epsom salts
  • Lavendar scented bath products

Step1
Choose your bath products based on what ailments you need relieved. Bath products can help relieve the congestion of a cold, calm irritated skin caused by sunburn, eczema or poison ivy and oak, relieve muscle tension and help you get a good night's sleep.
Step2
Pick citrus bath products for temporary relief from the stress of a cold. Citrus products such as grapefruit, lemon and orange are natural antiseptics and most citrus products have added moisturizers for soft skin.
Step3
Use eucalyptus scented bath salts or bubble baths for relief from congestion. Eucalyptus has anti-inflammatory properties that help you feel less congested when you inhale it. Eucalyptus can also boost your mood by leaving you calm and refreshed after your bath.
Step4
Calm itchy skin caused by eczema, allergic reactions, poison plants and sunburn by using bath products containing chamomile or oatmeal. Choose a product with essential oils added so it moisturizes your whole body while treating the itchy skin.
Step5
Soothe sore muscles with bath salts made from Epsom salts or Dead Sea salts. Both of these are high in magnesium, which is found to reduce inflammation and relieve muscle tension.
Step6
Get a good night's sleep with lavender or scented bath products. Use lavender scented bubble bath, shower gels, essential oils or even a bundle of dried lavender thrown into the tub to help you relax before bedtime.
Step7
Scrub your body with a natural bristle brush before, during or after your bath. This stimulates circulation and exfoliates dead skin.

Tips & Warnings

  • Put loose oatmeal in a stocking or thin sock so it doesn't clog your drain.
  • If you're skin is itchy and you don't have calming bath products on hand, throw a cup of baking soda in the water for the same effect.
  • Keep your bath water between 99 and 102 degrees for the best calming effect.
  • Avoid bath products that contain fragrance or color if you have sensitive or itchy skin.
