Welding dates back to the Iron Age and Bronze Age in the Middle East and Europe. There was a major surge during World War 1. Then, in the 1920s, there were many advances in welding technology. Whether you're an amateur welder or a highly skilled professional, you need a good source for your supplies.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Know what kind of welding wire you need. Examples include 030" Flux Core Mig Welding Wire, 023" Mild Steel Mig Welding Wire, .035" Aluminum Welding Wire, Bronze Welding Wire, Nickel Silver Welding Wire or Solid Carbon Steel Welding Wire.

  2. Step 2

Decide how much welding wire you need to buy. You can buy all sizes, from 1 lb. to a 10 lb. spool.

  3. Step 3

Order the welding wire online from websites, such as Welding Depot and Tool King (see Resources below). You can have it shipped via UPS Ground, Second Day Air or Next Day Air. Shipping charges will depend on where you live and the weight of the welding wire.

  4. Step 4

Search through home improvement stores' inventory online if you can't make it to the store in person. Home Depot, for example, sells welding wire through its website.
