Any time money is being won and lost, people will look for an advantage. While cheating in poker will certainly get you kicked out of a game, there is another kind of player called an Angle Shooter. This player bends the rules without quite breaking them.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Call out your hand when it isn't your turn. During the game, the turns pass around the table in order; you simple call out your hand prematurely. If someone folds and you don't have the hand you claimed, you still win the hand. However, you won't be looked upon kindly.

  2. Step 2

Look at other people's cards. If an opponent isn't hiding his hands well, you can peek to gain an advantage. However, if you get caught, you'll probably be dealt out of the game. Or worse.

  3. Step 3

Motion as if you are going to fold your hand, but don't fold. Other people may instinctively follow suit if they were on the fence. Suddenly you're still in the game and have an easy shot at the pot.

  4. Step 4

Buy the pot. This technique involves immediately raising your bet in a no limit game by an astronomical amount until it makes no sense for the other players to continue. By buying a few pots, you can easily accumulate some cash. This is also known as "stealing the blinds."

Tips & Warnings
  • Although you may not be cheating, you risk offending other players when you try to take "shoot the angles." If you get caught, and they get angry enough, violence could ensue.
