How to Knit a Moss Stitch Zigzag
The moss stitch zigzag is a simple way to make an interesting pattern. This pattern is done by stitching multiples of nine stitches.

Knit the first row by knitting 1, purl 1 twice, and then knit 4, purl 1. Repeat this entire pattern all the way to the end of the row.

Knit row two as purl 4, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1. Repeat this pattern across to the end of the row.

Knit row three by knitting 1, purl 1 three times. Then knit a repeating pattern of knit 4, purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1 until the last 3 stitches. Knit those last 3 stitches as normal.

Knit row four as purl 2, *(knit 1, purl 1) twice. Then knit 1, purl 4. Repeat from * until there are 7 stitches left. Then knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, purl 2. The asterisk (*) symbol is used when a row needs to be repeated and to make it easier to follow the instructions.

Knit 3 stitches at the beginning of row five. Then *purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, knit 4. Repeat from * until you get to the last 6 stitches. Then purl 1, knit 1 three times.

Knit row six as a repeating pattern of knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, purl 4. Follow this pattern across the row.

Knit row seven as you did row 5. Knit row eight as you did row 4. Knit row nine as you did row 3. Knit row ten as you did row two. Repeat these ten rows to form the moss stitch zigzag pattern.
